Site Viability
To establish whether your business is a suitable wind energy partner for Blue Energy, we’ve designed the following guide that details the requirements necessary to facilitate a successful turbine site.
Ideally, we are seeking sites in open windy areas well away from residential dwellings and sufficiently far enough away from buildings so the turbines will not be affected by turbulence.
To establish if your site is appropriate, you should be able to answer ‘yes’ to the following questions:
-
Is the land available for the project more than 250 acres (100Ha)? This may include land from a number of owners. Turbines need to be spaced around 400m apart to operate efficiently.
-
Do you think there is potential for some support for a wind farm from your local community?
-
Is the site located over 500 metres from residential dwellings and listed buildings?
-
Is the site well away from areas of outstanding natural beauty or National Park?
-
Is the site located well away from MOD or civilian airports?
-
Is the site free from any ecological factors such as protected species?
Should you wish to speak to someone personally about the suitability of your site or becoming a Blue Energy Partner, please contact us on 01625 588930.
